A charter from Cabo to Laredo includes costs that a domestic Texas trip doesn’t. These can include Mexican airport and handling fees, U.S. customs charges, and the cost of flying a U.S.-based aircraft down to Baja if none is already there. Rates are highest from December through April and during Semana Santa, when the Los Cabos ramps fill up. The eastbound flight to Laredo usually has a tailwind and takes the shorter time in each range.
Best Private Jet Airports in Cabo San Lucas and Laredo
Cabo San Lucas
- Cabo San Lucas International Airport (CSW): just outside town, designated by the Mexican government as an international airport for private and non-scheduled flights, with immigration and customs officers on site; preferred departure for this route
- Los Cabos International Airport (SJD): about 7 miles from San José del Cabo, the region’s main airline airport, with its own FBO and private aviation service; convenient if you’re staying in San José del Cabo or at the eastern end of the Corridor
Private flights leaving Cabo for another country use one of these two airports.
Laredo
Laredo International Airport (LRD): about 4 miles northeast of downtown, 8,743-ft runway, handles any business jet, U.S. Customs and Border Protection on site, two FBOs, preferred arrival for this route
In the Laredo area, only Laredo International lets a private jet arriving from Mexico clear U.S. customs. The airport in Nuevo Laredo, across the river, isn’t a practical substitute. A flight from Cabo to Nuevo Laredo counts as a domestic Mexican flight, which must be operated by a Mexican carrier. The U.S. State Department also currently advises against travel to Tamaulipas.
Private Jets for Charter Flights between Cabo San Lucas & Laredo
Turboprops
The route crosses the Gulf of California right after takeoff. Depending on the routing, that crossing can take a single-engine aircraft beyond the FAA’s overwater limits for passenger charters. Operators therefore often use a twin-engine turboprop, such as the eight-seat King Air 350 or the larger King Air 250. The flight takes about two and a half to three hours. That’s slower than a jet, but it’s the least expensive way to fly a small group home after a long weekend in Baja.
Light Jets
A Pilatus PC-24 or Citation CJ3+ makes the trip to Laredo in about two hours. For one or two people heading home after a few rounds of golf, either jet keeps the cost down. The PC-24 has the taller and longer cabin of the two. Fishing gear, dive bags, and cases of wine take up a light jet’s baggage space quickly, so ask about the size of the baggage compartment when you book.
Midsize Jets
The Learjet 60XR and Hawker 850XP seat up to nine, with more headroom and more room for luggage than a light jet, and make the trip in a little under two hours. They suit a family flying home after the holidays or four couples returning together. Both have ample runway at Cabo San Lucas International and at Laredo.
Super Midsize Jets
The Praetor 500 and Challenger 350 work well for families who have stayed in Cabo for several weeks and are flying home with extra luggage. The cabins have standing room, the baggage holds are large, and the Wi-Fi lets passengers get through their email before landing in Laredo. The flight takes about two hours.
Heavy Jets
The Falcon 900EX and Challenger 605 seat 13 to 14 passengers. That’s the right size for a wedding party flying back to Texas or two families who shared a villa in Pedregal. They can fly from either Cabo airport, but with a full cabin, operators usually choose Los Cabos International for its longer runway. The flight to Laredo takes just under two hours.
Ultra Long Range Jets
Very few Cabo to Laredo trips require an aircraft like the Falcon 8X or Global 6000. People usually book one because it’s already positioned nearby for a longer trip, or because they prefer its cabin no matter how far they’re flying. At about an hour and a half, it’s the quickest option on this route. These jets usually depart from Los Cabos International.
Cabo San Lucas to Laredo Private Jet Charter Services
PrivateJet.com coordinates the border formalities on both sides so you don’t have to. We work with the operator to file the eAPIS passenger manifest with U.S. Customs and confirm your arrival time with CBP at Laredo. We also collect everyone’s passport details in advance, so the Mexican exit check at the Cabo San Lucas FBO doesn’t hold you up. If the aircraft has to fly down from the U.S. to pick you up, we request the Mexican landing permit early, because the airport requires advance notice for charter flights.
In Cabo, we book the car from Pedregal, the marina, or the Tourist Corridor to the airport and can order catering from the airport’s in-house provider. In Laredo, an SUV can meet you at the FBO once you clear customs. If Laredo is just where you enter the U.S., the same aircraft can continue to San Antonio or Houston after customs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I depart from Cabo San Lucas International or Los Cabos International?
Cabo San Lucas International is usually the better choice if you’re staying in Cabo San Lucas, Pedregal, or the western end of the Corridor. It’s about 7 miles from the marina and handles only private flights, and customs and immigration are in the same building as the FBO. Los Cabos International is closer to San José del Cabo. It also has a longer runway for heavy jets and is about 30 miles from Cabo San Lucas.
What happens when I land in Laredo?
The aircraft taxis to the FBO, where CBP officers process passengers and their bags. Everyone on board needs a valid passport. The operator files the passenger manifest electronically before leaving Mexico. Once you’ve cleared customs, you can leave the airport or continue to another U.S. airport on the same aircraft.
Does hurricane season affect flights out of Cabo?
It can. The Eastern Pacific hurricane season runs from mid-May through November, and a storm near southern Baja can close local airports or delay departures. If a storm is forecast, we’ll work with the operator to move your departure earlier or later. Leaving your dates flexible is especially useful in September.
